1 Month Doctor Appointment

Veronica saw her pediatrician today for her one month appointment. She’s actually 6 weeks though due to scheduling issues.

Thank you to everyone who was praying for V to have good weight gain. Unfortunately she did not make the goal at this appointment. She is 3 ounces short of where she should be minimum weight-wise.

When we see the cardiologist this Thursday he may want us to either add formula to her diet or switch to formula altogether. The main thing they are concerned about is that she started out in the 50th percentile and she is now in the 25th percentile. So while we may not be seeing outward signs of her body being stressed from the heart, the lack of weight gain is a sign that internally she is expending more calories than she should.

On the other hand, she is really growing length-wise. She gained another inch. The doctor thinks she’s a very tall baby. She’s got killer legs already. Definitely didn’t get it from mommy!

Regarding surgery, we were happy to find out that it will take place at Children’s Hospital. Still no word on the timing yet, more info on that will come Thursday.

On top of all the heart concerns, Veronica also has a mild case of cradle cap, baby acne, and acid reflux.

Other than the bazillion things she is dealing with right now, she is in great health.

Her official stats for the 1 month appointment:

Weight: 9 pounds, 1 ounce
Height: 22 inches

Keep eating VJ! If you need help, I can send your cousin Alex over to teach you about steak and such.

R, just a tip – re: cradle cap – Selsun Blue worked great for Alex when he was a baby. If I remember correctly, we used it only once a week, but it really was the only thing that worked.

    Love to you all…stacy
